A Commercial Plane of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus A320, flying from Lahore to Karachi, a few kilometers from the landing runway, crashed in a residential area near Karachi airport on Friday. The following is a history of major air crashes in Pakistan or the inclusion of Pakistani planes in it:

May 20, 1965

A PIA Boeing 707 crashed while attempting to land at Cairo Airport in its initial flight, killing 124 people.

August 6, 1970

A PIA F-27 turboprop plane crashed while trying to leave Islamabad with a storm, killing all 30 people on board.

December 8, 1972

A PIA f-27 crashed in Rawalpindi. All 26 people on board died.

November 26, 1979

The PIA Boeing 707 was carrying Pakistani pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, and immediately after the take-off from Jeddah airport, the accident took place, killing 156 people.

October 23, 1986

A PIA f-27 was coming down during landing in Peshawar, killing 13 of the 54 people on board.

August 17, 1988

The American-made Hercules C-130 military plane crashed near Bahawalpur, killing army ruler General Muhammad Zia al-Haq and 30 Pakistani soldiers.

August 25, 1989

After leaving Gilgit, a PIA focus consisted of 54 people. The suspect was never found.

September 28, 1992

After reaching near Kathmandu, Nepal, an Airbus A300 of the PIA crashed into a cloud-covered mountain, killing 167 people.

February 19th, 2003

An air force F-27 near Kohat crashed into the mountains of The Mountain, killing Air Chief Marshal Mushf Ali, his wife, and 15 others.

February 24th, 2003

In chartered Cessna 402-B, Afghan Mines and Industries Minister Juma Muhammad Muhammad, four Afghan officials, a Chinese mining executive, and two Pakistani staff fell into the Arabian Sea near Karachi.

July 10th, 2006

Take off from Multan immediately. Later, the PIA Fokker F-27, which was going to Lahore, broke out of a field and burst into flames, killing 41 passengers and four crew.

July 28th, 2010

November 5th, 2010

A twin aircraft operated by The Italian Oil Company’s crew, jS Air, crashed shortly after it took off in Karachi, killing all 21 people on board.

November 28th, 2010

At least 12 people were killed when a Russian-made Al-Issin IL-76 cargo plane was flying through Georgian airline Sunway, after a flight from Karachi, and the fire was destroyed in seconds.

April 20, 2012

A Bhuja Airbus 737 from Karachi came in bad weather near Islamabad, killing 121 passengers and 6 crew members.

May 8, 2015

A Pakistani army helicopter crashed and destroyed 8 people, including ambassadors of Norway, Philippines and Indonesia, and the wives of Malaysian and Indonesian each, and the school building in a remote Valley near Gilgit was set on fire.

December 7, 2016

An ATR-42 plane of the PIA crashed, was going from Chitral to Islamabad. All 48 passengers and crew, including singer-in-charge Junaid Jamshed, are claimed to have died in the accident.

22 May 2020
